I am a wife, a mother, a writer and an amateur photographer. For Mother’s Day this year, I received a great new camera from my hubby and son and it inspired me to create a blog and some other social media accounts to display my pics, writing and any other things I might feel like commenting on. Sorry for the duplicate information from my first blog post, but this covers the basics! I’m still getting the hang of blogging.
I have always liked the concept of daily journal writing and have randomly kept a journal over the years. The most recent was started soon after our son was born. He is currently 2 and 1/2 and I have to admit, I only use the journal for major updates or milestones now. But for a while there, it was a great way to put the daily trials and tribulations of being a first time parent down into words.
I hope for this blog to be a useful source of information for the various subjects that interest me: photography, writing, being a parent, and anything else that becomes important. I really appreciate the article on choosing the perfect blog name as it made me think hard about what I hoped to accomplish with my blog and how to create an identity with the chosen name. After brainstorming and using relevant words for a writing/photography/parenting blog, I finally settled on a possible neutral enough name that could change if my subject matter changes over the time that I continue to write. The word “focus” had to be in my blog’s name, first for its photography meaning and second as its true meaning as a noun (“a main purpose or interest”). This allows me to morph the focus of my blog to whatever happens to be appropriate, without having to come up with a new name. Kinda cool, I think! However for now, I intend it to be about photography, writing and parenting (with a possible focus on reviewing some recent toys that we have for our son).
While I’m on the subject of our son, I just want to say there will be very few pictures of him on here even though he is the subject of much of my photography these days. I don’t believe in putting pics of kids online and have never put a picture of him on Facebook. I don’t plan to include him here either. My other subject matters for photography are nature, interior design, architecture, animals, and cool textures as macro photos. Those will be prevalent here on my blog. Hope you enjoy them!
